Local Brampton wood carver and artist Billy Watterson completed a carving of a life-sized Second World War soldier, which he donated to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15 (80 Mary St.) to honour the memory of fallen service men and women for Remembrance Day.

Lou Lisi
Tues. January 07th 2025
Lou Lisi retired from the CN Police in 2018 after a 33-year career, including service as a Staff Sergeant overseeing Network Security and Intelligence. Certified as a Security Analyst by the RCMP and trained in CPTED, Lisi managed cross-border security, critical infrastructure, and IT systems. His security plans were recognized by Transport Canada and CBSA. Lisi also supported communities with emergency planning for hazardous materials. Currently, he works seasonally for the Toronto Blue Jays, conducting risk assessments and VIP protection.

Jennifer Garner
THE CHARLES H. BEST DIABETES CENTRE
Jen is a Registered Practical Nurse who attended Durham, Mohawk and George Brown colleges, and holds a certification from the Michener Institute for further education in nursing and diabetes. Jen started at the Best Centre in 2012, as the Telemedicine Coordinator. Her role has expanded greatly over the years and is a great support to patients during pediatric clinic days. She has a passion for continuous glucose monitors and flash monitors and loves helping patients learn about this exciting technology. In her spare time Jen enjoys cycling, downhill skiing and time at her trailer fishing and swimming. Jen is also the Mom of Ethan who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011 at the age of 8. The following year Ethan was also diagnosed with celiac disease. The Best centre has supported Ethan and Jen with education and care to live the best life following this diagnosis.

Astrid Peters
If you have lived in Brampton for any length of
time then you know Humber Nurseries. Astrid Peters is the daughter
of the founders and has written a book Sibylla, One Story At A Time –
Her book explores the trials of moving to Canada and establishing a
successful nursery.

Adam Chapnick
A professor of defence studies at the Royal
Military College of Canada (RMC). He is in Toronto, where he also
serves as the deputy director of education at the Canadian Forces
College.
Adam will be speaking on the Canadian Defense Policy – A subject
which is timely and of great importance.
